Posted in: Facilities Updates
In a continuing effort to create a more focused and strategic business environment, the Division of University Facilities has reorganized several departments and work units.
Please note the following changes:
- William Fitzpatrick, Executive Director of Facilities Logistic Support, heads a new service unit which encompasses Fleet Services (formerly the Auto Shop), Mail Services, Parking, Receiving and Transportation Services.
- In addition to Campus Planning, Michael Zanko now directs University Facilities technology initiatives, including systems administration, database management, technology procurement, web and social media development, and technology project management. Assisting him with these activities are MIS Technician, Daniel Gilmartin and Administrative Analyst, Adeline Nino. Anthony Mennuti, Manager for Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) and Mapping Services, is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of University Computer Aided Design (CAD), CAFM and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and the support of building and planning data elements.
- Shawn M. Connolly has assumed the general oversight of all Facilities Services, including Grounds and Landscape, Housekeeping, and Move and Waste Management operations. With these added responsibilities Mr. Connolly’s title has been changed to Associate Vice President for University Facilities.
- The re-aligned Facilities Services department functions are managed by Executive Director Leonard Jones. Reporting to Mr. Jones are: Jacqueline Alvarez and Preya Sanasie, Assistant Directors of Housekeeping Services; Stephen Ruggiero, Director of Grounds Services; and Al Marzullo, Supervisor of Residential Moving Services. As of June 1, 2014, Roy Ponton retired as Crew Supervisor of Move and Waste Management, thus ending his 20-plus-year career at MSU. Mr. Jones assumed direct oversight of the Move and Waste Management unit until further notice.
- The Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FME) department has been renamed Facilities Maintenance and Energy Management (FMEM). Mr. Connolly continues to manage this group. Changes within this department include:
- Ana Pinto joined the University on June 23 as Director of Energy Management . Her responsibilities include the effective analysis and management of the University’s energy systems and the Energy Management Program, along with the management of the University’s planned maintenance program.
- Jonathan Lee assumed responsibility for Access Controls and Systems. His responsibilities include the Access Controls and Lock Shop, security alarm systems, integration planning, and related operational and project management.
- Joseph Marzullo is now Director of Facilities Maintenance. His responsibilities include the overall management of the Carpentry, General Mechanics (Repairers), HVAC, Painting and Masonry, and Plumbing units; and related support services.
- In order to ensure that our constituents continue to realize improvements in customer services, the Facilities Service Desk has been organizationally and physically reassigned to the FMEM and renamed University Facilities Customer Service Center (CSC). Gains in this area include improved communications between trades supervisors and CSC staff and increased efficiencies in the scheduling of work.
The Division of University Facilities will continue to use creative and innovative approaches to demonstrate its commitment to Montclair State University and to advance its agenda as defined in the Facilities Strategic Plan. The goal of University Facilities is to provide and maintain a safe, clean, attractive, and comfortable physical environment for the campus community. As an organization which places high importance on the “service” aspect of its mission, feedback continues to be welcome on all of its programs and services. Please direct all Parking, Transportation, Fleet, Mail and Receiving inquiries to extension 7005. All Maintenance and Services issues may be directed to extension 5444. Service comments may be submitted via the University Facilities website.
