Local Kindergarteners Visit for Earth Day
Posted in: Facilities Updates
In recognition of Earth Day, Kindergarteners from Montclair Township’s Bradford Elementary School visited Montclair State University on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Staff from the the Division of University Facilities planned activities for the students which included a presentation by Associate Vice President, Shawn Connolly about carbon dioxide and global warming. Mr. Connolly explained global warming to the students by covering himself with layers of clothing.
Several employees from Facilities, including managers from the Grounds and Housekeeping departments, assisted the students as they installed plantings in front of the Harry A. Sprague Library. After the day’s activities, students were given a tree to take home and plant in recognition of Earth Day. As part of Teacher’s Appreciation Week, teachers Ms. Cahill and Mrs. Farjani were each gifted a tree to plant as thank you for their hard work and dedication.
The Division of University Facilities hopes to expand their Earth Day celebration next year, providing more activities and reaching out to other local schools.
