Montclair State University Selects Projectmates Construction Program Management Software

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 06, 2012

Montclair State University is among the newest clients of Systemates’ construction program management software, Projectmates. With a five-year capital improvement plan estimated at over $650 million, the Division of University Facilities will leverage Projectmates for budget and cost tracking, document management, construction workflow, and team collaboration from project initiation through construction and closeout. Projectmates will also be integrated with the University’s Active Directory and enterprise accounting software.

Montclair State University is the second-largest and fastest-growing public institution of higher education in New Jersey. With its 250-acre campus and state-of-the-art facilities, the University realized a need for owner-focused construction industry software that will keep pace with its thriving academics and student body. Among 22 high priority projects outlined in its Capital Master Plan, the University will use Projectmates to manage several renovation and expansion projects including the Center for Environmental and Life Sciences, the new School of Business and the School of Communications project, as well as numerous parking and road improvements.

In the past, the University relied heavily on spreadsheets for cost tracking while also exhausting time and resources for paper-based submittals and approval processes. With Projectmates, the University can track budgets, commitments, and expenditures in real time and with more consistency and accuracy. Instant, in-depth financial reporting also helps control cost overruns for a single project or across an entire program.

Because Projectmates provides a centralized, online construction software platform, the University can better facilitate collaboration and accountability, maximize staff efficiencies, and improve the quality and accessibility of information. “MSU has recently added Wi-Fi hotspots all across campus. Project managers, general contractors, and others will be able to access Projectmates right on the job site through laptops, iPads, and other mobile devices,” said Hemant Bhave, AIA, Vice President at Systemates.

Today, Montclair State University hosts and manages Projectmates onsite, giving the University total self-operational control and ownership of the system. Projectmates offers its clients three hosting options, namely ASP, self hosted, and vendor hosted. Regardless of the hosting option, Projectmates is completely Web-based without the need to install or upgrade software on a user’s computer.
