The Department of Fire Safety will be hosting several activities during Fire Safety Week (October 10, 2011 through October 14, 2011)!
Fire Extinguisher Training
Will be held:
Thursday, October 13 from 9:30 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. in the Student Center Quad.
Help “Protect Your Family From Fire!”
Come and learn how to use an extinguisher.
Fire Information and Rescue Education (F.I.R.E.) Bowl
The F.I.R.E. Bowl Competition will be held:
Wednesday, October 12, from 2:30 p.m. through 5:00 p.m.
Fire Safety Poster Contest
Judging is currently underway!
Winners will be announced at the F.I.R.E. Bowl Competition!
Help Earn Points for Your Residence Hall for the Fire Safety Residence Hall of the Year Award:
Points are (or were) awarded for:
-Residence hall with the most participants in fire extinguisher training, 10-13-11.
-Participation in the F.I.R.E. Bowl Competition (taking the pre-test).
-Attending the F.I.R.E. Bowl Competition (the residence hall that brings the
most people will earn extra points).
-Winning the F.I.R.E. Bowl Competition. (Points awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
place)
-Quick and orderly evacuations during fire drills (and alarms), times being adjusted
for the size of the building.
-The least number of alarms from cooking in a residence hall, adjusted for the
number of kitchens.
-The hall with the most entries for the Fire Safety Poster Contest.
-The winner of the Fire Safety Poster Contest.
-The lowest number of violations in the residents’ rooms/common areas.
The winner of the Fire Safety Residence Hall of the Year Award will be announced at the end of the Fall semester!
