Carlisle Road Roadwork Update, 12/17
Posted in: Advisory, Construction News
The ongoing roadwork on Carlisle Road and Red Hawk Way is nearing its completion with only a few more days of work scheduled. Those driving to the campus should be aware of the following and plan accordingly:
Friday, December 18 – Paving Carlisle Road (7 a.m. – 4 p.m.). A minimum of one lane will be kept open along Carlisle Road. A police officer will be stationed at each end of the construction and they will direct traffic in alternate directions in accordance with the construction activity and the traffic volumes that arrive from the north, south, and from Red Hawk Way.
Monday, December 21 – Striping Carlisle Road and Red Hawk Way (7 a.m. – 4 p.m.). A minimum of one lane will be kept open along Carlisle Road. A police officer will be stationed at each end of the construction and they will direct traffic in alternate directions in accordance with the construction activity and the traffic volumes that arrive from the north, south, and from Red Hawk Way.
Tuesday, December 22 – Signage will be installed at the intersection of Carlisle Road and Red Hawk Way so motorists should expect occasional minor interruptions to the traffic flow.
Once all roadwork is complete on Tuesday, the new traffic patterns on Carlisle Road and Red Hawk Way will be fully available to all motorists. Those entering the campus by Carlisle Road will be able to travel north through the intersection of Carlisle Road and Red Hawk Way and continue on to the north end of campus as is currently possible. They will also have the new option of turning right on to Red Hawk Way to gain access to the Red Hawk Parking Deck.
The traffic patterns for those who enter the campus from College Avenue will not change. There will still be access to the Red Hawk Parking Deck and both left and right hand turns onto Carlisle Road will be possible. Although the north end of campus can still be accessed though the College Avenue entrance, those traveling west on Normal Avenue may find the new Carlisle Road entrance to be the most direct route and are encouraged to use that entrance.
