WEW 2016 at Montclair State
Montclair State University celebrated Women Entrepreneurship Week with two events during the designated week in October 2016:
Power Play: What Makes Women Great Leaders
What does power look like for a woman? Are there differences in how women leaders use power versus men? Is power a dirty word? Our all-star panel shared tips for being a leader as a woman, especially in traditionally male-dominated fields. Panel included viewpoints from the worlds of entrepreneurship, corporate, nonprofit, and politics. The panelists were Adenah Bayoh, founder and CEO of Adenah Bayoh and Companies; Ruthi Byrne, president of Zinn, Graves & Field; Gail Mandel, president and CEO of Wyndham Destination Network; and Debra Vizzi, president and CEO of Cummunity FoodBank of New Jersey. The evening event was free and open to the public.
WEW Conference
Packed with content for entrepreneurs (wherever they are on the spectrum of starting or growing a business), this conference was also useful for C-suite executives who wanted to hear the latest on juggling it all, taking risks and secrets of success. This exciting conference was the signature event of Women Entrepreneurship Week. Some of the guest speakers included Jen Slaw, juggler and speaker; Kim Guadagno, Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey; Debbie Dyson, corporate VP of Client Experience at ADP; Laura Overdeck, founder and president of Bedtime Math Foundation; and Jayne Millard, CEO of Turtle & Hughes Inc. The daylong event was free and open to the public. See a video recap of our WEW Conference.
