Two English alumnae presented their graduate research at the 25th annual British Women Writers Conference at the University of Chapel Hill (June 21-24).
Christina Jen, a doctoral candidate at Rutgers, presented work from her dissertation in a paper title “‘Reading Behind the Curtain: Jane Austen’s Theory of ‘Incomplete’ Acting.” Bianca Perez-Cancino is in her third year at Indiana. Her paper was titled: “Parental Authority and Filial (Dis)Obedience in Gaskell’s North and South.”
Christina won the British Women Writers Association’s graduate student travel award. Congratulations to both!
