Celebrate W.B. Yeats’ 150th Birthday with Prof. Lucy McDiarmid

“‘Excess of Love’: Yeats and the Rebels of 1916” at Ireland House, NYU, Saturday, April 11th, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Posted in: English Department

Lucy McDiarmid, Marie Frazee-Baldassare Professor of English at Montclair State, looks at the relation between romantic love and political idealism in the lives of the 1916 rebels, contrasting the way Yeats sees that relation in his poetry (“Hearts with one purpose alone”) and the way the executed men saw themselves.  Her talk is part of Taste of the Yeats Summer School, a series of talk and readings at Glucksman Ireland House NYU, 1 Washington Mews, New York, NY 10003

This annual day of all things Yeats, organized by the Yeats Society of NY in partnership with GIH NYU, is just a taste of a two-week program in Sligo, Ireland, that includes a tour of “Yeats Country.”
