April marks the centenary of Ireland’s 1916 Easter Rising and the Irish Revolution. In commemoration, Lucy McDiarmid, Marie Frazee-Baldassare Professor of English, has written a new book published by the Royal Irish Academy: At Home in the Revolution: What Women Said and Did in 1916.

‘Welcoming Ireland’ Cultural Celebration April 24
McDiarmid will give a lecture on April 24 as part of the centenary commemoration sponsored by the Consulate General of Ireland in New York and other community organizations.

‌Book launch in Manhattan
A launch event was also held for her book on March 1 in the United States. She gave a lecture at the Consulate General of Ireland in Manhattan called: “Jumping Into the GPO: Women in the Easter Rising.” McDiarmid, is pictured above, center, with Consul General Barbara Jones and LAOH President Mary Hogan at the launch.
