New Michael Robbins Book: Equipment for Living

Michael Robbins, assistant professor in the Department of English, is the author of a new book published by Simon & Schuster: Equipment for Living: On Poetry and Pop Music. The book of criticism examines how works of art such as poetry and popular music, can serve as essential tools for living.

The book was reviewed by Louis Menand for the July 31, 2017 edition of The New Yorker under the title: "The Defense of Poetry."

Robbins is also the author of the poetry collections Alien vs. Predator (2012) and The Second Sex (2014). His poems, critical essays, and reviews have been included in publications such as: The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Poetry, Harper’s, London Review of Books, and BOOKFORUM.
