Faculty Named ASCE New Jersey’s 2024 Educator Of The Year

Dr. Yang Deng, a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Studies, has been awarded the prestigious “2024 Educator of the Year” by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – New Jersey Section. Founded in 1852, ASCE is the nation’s oldest civil engineering society, boasting over 160,000 members across 177 countries.
This award recognizes an outstanding educator who has significantly contributed to the field of civil engineering in New Jersey. Dr. Deng has been honored for his constant dedication to fostering the next generation of leaders, innovators, and scholars poised to address the most critical challenges in environmental engineering.
Dr. Deng has been a valued member of Montclair State University since 2010. Prior to that, he was faculty at the University of Puerto Rico and Georgia Southern University.
