Students win top prizes at AAG regional meeting
The Middle States American Association of Geographers held their regional meeting, where multiple student posters were recognized.

Bhagyashree Vaidya, with co-authors Diane Hagmann, Dr. Jennifer Krumins, and Dr. Nina Goodey, won 1st Prize in the Graduate Student Poster competition, for her study, “Artificial Root Exudates Augment Extracellular Enzyme Activity in Metal Contaminated Soil”.
Runners up were from Virginia Tech and Rutgers, and the competition was judged by the MSAAG executive board.
Anastasia Figueroa, with co-authors Dr. Greg Pope, Dr. Xiaona Li, and Dr. Yang Deng, won the Rob Mason Memorial People’s Choice Poster Award, for her study, “Relation between black carbon sediment deposition and anthropogenic related organic and inorganic contaminants in an urban waterway using a multi-tiered geochemical approach.”
This was awarded based on votes from conference attendees.
