Dr. Eric Forgoston, Applied Mathematics and Statistics Chairperson and Professor, provided insight into the use of models in predicting the progression of this Coronavirus.

Models will result in uncertain predictions, especially since the U.S. is not mass-testing and New Jersey is testing only symptomatic individuals. But even so, weighing a number of different models can give people a range of possible outcomes, which is valuable.
