The MA in Counseling program was first accredited in 2009 in all program areas and in 2017 the MA programs in Addictions Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and School Counseling received continuing accreditation for the full 8 year cycle. The programs are currently under review for accreditation for the next cycle, and hope to host a site visit in 2025. During the 2023 – 2024 academic year, the program enrolled 402 students, both full and part time. During this time 117 students graduated from the program. The program completion rate for all students was approximately 68% for the 7-year timeframe allocated by the university (Addiction Counseling 50%, Clinical Mental Health Counseling 70%, School Counseling 83%). The program boasts a 100% pass rate for students who took the National Counselor Examination. According to reports from alumni who responded to the survey, the job placement rate for graduates in 2023 – 2024 is 62%.
The Ph.D. in Counseling program began in 2009 and received full accreditation in 2017; the program is currently under review for continuing accreditation for the next cycle. During the 2023 – 2024 academic year, the program enrolled 50 students, both full and part-time, and 8 students graduated. The program completion rate for all PhD students is approximately 50% for the 7-year timeframe allocated by the university. Of the graduates who responded to the survey, 100% reported they found employment in counselor education and counseling practice positions.
