The Montclair State University, PhD in Counseling program began in September 2009.
The program received full accreditation in July 2016.
During the 2019-2020 academic year, the program enrolled 57 students, both full and part-time. The program graduated six students during this academic year.
Of the 57 students enrolled, 30 identify as female, 15 identify as male, and 12 as gender nonconforming. The racial/ethnic makeup of the doctoral program students is as follows: 11 African American/Black, 4 Asian, 8 Hispanic/Latino, 24 White, 3 Multiracial, 4 Other/Undisclosed, and 3 Nonresident Alien. Our retention rate is approximately 90%. To the best of our knowledge, all of our graduates are currently employed in their field of choice.
