Dr. Michael Boyle presents research in Oxford, England

Dr. Michael Boyle, assistant professor of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, gave two research presentations at the 11^th Oxford Dysfluency Conference on September 21^st, 2017. The conference, held in St. Catherine’s College in the University of Oxford, brings together researchers and therapists from all over the world to share knowledge in fluency disorders.

Dr. Boyle presented an oral session titled, “Identifying key ingredients of public anti-stigma programs for stuttering: A qualitative content analysis,” in addition to a poster titled, “Comparing direct and indirect measures of public stigma associated with stuttering.” The research findings came from recent studies conducted by Boyle and his students at Montclair State University that aimed to identify critical aspects of public education and outreach programs for improving societal attitudes about stuttering. The presentations helped spread awareness of evidence-based strategies that can be used by researchers and therapists around the world for reducing environmental barriers faced by people who stutter
