Megan Eitel Receives Prestigious T35 Summer Research Fellowship
Posted in: Communication Sciences Disorders
Congratulations to Megan Eitel, a doctoral student in audiology, who was recently awarded a T35 Traineeship* to conduct research this summer working with Dr. Konrad-Martin at the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research in Portland, Oregon.
She will be conducting a study documenting longitudinal changes in hearing among the subset of individuals in their study of veterans with diabetes that have developed retinopathy. She will have collaborators from the optometry department as well and will compare auditory and visual decline over time in this subset of individuals. Dr. Joan Besing will be examining the auditory component in this study.
*The T35 program is a highly competitive prestigious three month summer research traineeship award held at four different research-intensive institutions within the United States. The program is funded by the National Institutes of Health, and is designed to encourage audiology students to pursue careers in research. In this program, Megan is matched with a research mentor, and will devote her summer pursuing a research project on a full-time basis. Megan will also attend weekly journal clubs, research seminars, and will attend courses on responsible conduct in research.
