About CHILL
The Career Hub for International Language Learning (CHILL) is the brainchild of a team of professors and students from the World Languages and Cultures Department at Montclair State University. We noticed that despite the more than 200 languages and dialects spoken in New Jersey alone, and the great demand for multilingual employees among domestic and international employers, the tools currently available in the United States to help students choose a career based on their interests and skills have generally neglected to include questions about proficiency in a language other than English.
We hope that our Language Career Calculator, in combination with recent alumni descriptions of their jobs and resources for identifying positions in companies that value multilinguals, will encourage students to start thinking early about where they might want to work and how to develop the skills and experiences necessary for landing those jobs.
CHILL was developed with the generous support of an MLA Pathways Step Grant funded by the Mellon Foundation. We thank the numerous colleagues, alumni, students, and professionals inside and outside the University who helped us evaluate needs and offered advice about this platform.
Montclair CHILL Team: Enza Antenos, Elizabeth Emery, Wing Shan Ho, Thomas Herold, Pascale LaFountain, Kathleen Loysen.
