Mark Clatterbuck, associate professor in the Department of Religion, has edited a new book titled, Crow Jesus: Personal Stories Of Native Religious Belonging. Published by the University of Oklahoma Press, the book is a collection of narratives from fifteen members of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation in southeastern Montana and three non-Native missionaries to the reservation. They describe how Christianity has shaped their lives, their families, and their community through the years.
About Mark Clatterbuck
Clatterbuck’s scholarship focuses on the indigenous religions of North America with particular interest in the encounter between Native religious traditions and Christianity. He also conducts field research and publishes in the fields of Christian history and theology, especially Catholicism and Pentecostalism.
He is also the author of Demons, Saints, & Patriots: Catholic Visions of Native America through The Indian Sentinel (1902-1962) published by Marquette University Press (2009).
