Tricia Matthew, Associate Professor of English, will co-edit Race in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture, a new series for Oxford University Press, with Manu Chander (Rutgers-Newark). The series attends to the racial and imperial logics that structured the conceptual and material worlds from which literatures of the long nineteenth century emerged. Matthew and Chander have been collaborating since 2016 when they edited a special section on abolitionist literature for European Romantic Review. Matthew’s recent work has been published in Frankenstein in Theory: A Critical Anatomy (Bloomsbury Press), Texas Studies in Literature and Language, and the Times Literary Supplement. She is the editor of a forthcoming special issue of Studies in Romanticism (Race, Blackness, and Romanticism) and is currently writing a book on abolition, material culture, and gender under advance contract with Princeton University Press.
