In early May, CHSS students gathered to celebrate their completion of the inaugural Professionals in Training (PIT) Series. Lead by CHSS Career Advisor Jeffrey Poulos, the PIT Series provides CHSS majors with the skills and tools needed to succeed in their professional lives.
“The goal of the series is to ensure our students achieve success through their career and professional development as they navigate the job and internship search process,” says Poulos. “As a whole, we encourage students to work hard and achieve academically, but it’s vital students are gaining professional skills for the workforce.”
The semester-long PIT Series requires participants to attend at least one workshop in six different career-focused categories: Resumes, Job Search Strategies, Hire a Red Hawk, Job Skills, LinkedIn and Career Fair attendance.
Junior Nawal Faith successfully completed the PIT Series and credits the program with furthering her career development and providing guidance and support to her to reach her own professional goals. “The workshops were easy to follow and full of great information. Through PIT, I made great connections at Montclair state, gained confidence professionally and was able to land two jobs over the summer and one volunteer position.”
