Congratulations to Thomas McNulty who received the Outstanding Academic Achievement and Service Award for the Humanities at the CHSS Convocation ceremony on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.
McNulty, completing his studies with a cumulative GPA of 4.0, is receiving a Bachelor of Arts in German and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing. These curricula combine McNulty’s diverse interests, ranging from languages and cultural studies to creative strategy and branding.
During his junior year, McNulty studied in Graz, Austria as the recipient of the Montclair-Graz Sister City Scholarship, the university’s most prestigious cultural exchange program that was founded to nurture the near 70-year partnership between the two cities. It was during this year that McNulty developed his fluency in German and a passion for advocating the importance of global education.
More recently, McNulty participated in the 2018 Transatlantic Entrepreneurship Academy, an intensive two-week program focusing on disruptive innovation and the development of the entrepreneurial mindset. Taking place in Vienna, Graz, Montclair, and New York, the program involved collaboration and exchange between 20 Montclair State students and 20 students from the University of Graz.
In addition, McNulty has served as the Public Relations Officer of the Management Club, an organization dedicated to teaching leadership skills and management practices, and has worked in the Office of International Engagement as a Study Abroad Peer Advisor, a program dedicated to encouraging study abroad experiences. He is a member of the National German Honor Society and the NJ Collegiate Business Administration Association Honor Society. On May 4, McNulty received the Academic Achievement Award for Excellence in Marketing.
Following graduation and completion of his internship at a digital marketing agency in NYC, McNulty plans to pursue graduate studies abroad and a career in international marketing.
