Jason M. Williams, assistant professor in the Department of Justice Studies, was honored by the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders on February 28, 2018 for his work in education and scholarship and his impact on the community. They honored him at their Black History Month Program at the Passaic County Administration Building.

Williams is an activist scholar and his research focuses on critical policing, race, social control, and criminal justice policy. He is currently conducting on-the-ground critical ethnographic research in Ferguson, Missouri and Baltimore, Maryland following the deaths of Michael Brown and Freddie Gray.
