Yasemin Besen-Cassino, associate professor in the Department of Sociology, was interviewed by Richard French for a segment on Labor Day 2016.

She touches shifts in the economy and culture, changes in manufacturing and blue-collar jobs, flex jobs, the gig economy, retail, the service sector, and youth labor.

Besen-Cassino is working on several book projects including Origins of the Gender Wage Gap and Gender Inequalities in the Workforce, under contract at Temple University Press. She is also the author of Consuming Work: Youth Work in America (Temple University Press, 2014) and Consuming Politics: Jon Stewart, Branding and Youth Vote in America (with Daniel R. Cassino published by Rowman and Littlefield: New Jersey, 2009)
