New College Classroom Meeting

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State University hosted Drs. Cathy N Davidson and Christina Katopodis to discuss their new book “The New College Classroom“

Hosted by the CHSS Dean’s Office, the event took place on Wednesday, February 1st, from 4pm – 5pm, and was followed by a reception. The presentation took place on-campus, in Brantl Lecture Hall, as well as virtually via Zoom. The CHSS Digital Media CoLab handled the virtual meeting and on-site technology support.

Davidson and Katopodis gave insight on ways to engage students, setting aside the “sage-on-the-stage” approach and focusing on classroom involvement and student participation. Utilizing a Think-Pair-Share exercise, the presenters demonstrated how professors can engage students for a potentially more meaningful, and effective educational experience both in person and virtually.
