Name: Call for Panelists at ASIS&T 2020 – Infrastructures of Digital Humanities
Deadline: April 20, 2020
Location: ASIS&T 2020 Annual Meeting: 23 – 28 October, 2020 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, Pittsburgh, PA
Submission: Contact Chris Alen Sula at (csula@pratt.edu) if you are interested in participating as a panelist or have questions.
Chris Alen Sula is putting together a proposal for a panel at ASIS&T 2020 focused around infrastructures of digital humanities. This broad framing will look at organizational and structural aspects of the field, including collaborations, partnerships, training and support, access, impact, preservation, sustainability, and more.
This panel aims to convene participants from a range of roles and institutions—faculty, administrators (esp. DH centers), librarians, and other information professionals—to build on previous work around common practices at various levels, differences at local and global scales, and critical issues in the development of digital humanities.
Panel contributions may address any topic in DH infrastructure (broadly conceived) and include:
-best practices for organizing DH work and partnerships
-connections between departments and institutions, including linked open data and its applications
-different ways DH work is organized around the globe, including issues of resourcing and under-resourcing
-how these practices are in congruence or conversation (or not) with indigenous knowledge structures and practices
-the capacity of DH to engage in public-facing work, including through storytelling
-models of DH education and training
This panel is convened in conjunction with a special issue of JASIS&T on digital humanities, to be published in 2021 (formal call for papers will be distributed later this spring).
Depending on COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time of conference, virtual participation may be possible, so please consider being a contributor even if you are unsure of your ability to travel.
