Sasha Troyan reading fiction
Other than teaching at Montclair, Sasha Troyan has published two novels, Angels in the Morning, and The Forgotten Island. Her short story, “Hidden Works,” appeared in the Spring 2009 issue of Ploughshares, guest-edited by the poet Eleanor Wilner.
David Galef – reading fiction
A shameless eclectic, David Galef has published in far too many directions for his own good: novels, children’s books, translations of Japanese proverbs, literary criticism, edited anthologies, poetry and short story collections and most recently, two poetry chapbooks and a fiction chapbook. He has written and published over eighty short stories in various international magazines and his essays and reviews have appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, The Village Voice, Twentieth Century Literature and The Columbia History of the British Novel among others. His awards include a Fulbright fellowship, a Henfield Foundation grant, a Writers Exchange award from Poets & Writers, as well as residencies at Yaddo and Ragdale. A co-founder of the MFA program in creative writing at the University of Mississippi, he is now a professor of English at Montclair State University.
Carrie O’Dell – reading drama
Carrie O’Dell is a dramaturg and playwright who serves as adjunct faculty in the first-year writing programs at MSU and at Marymount Manhattan College. She holds an MFA in Dramaturgy and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies from SUNY Stony Brook and a BA in Theatre from Rhodes College. She has served as a dramaturg fro Obie-award winning composer and director Elizabeth Swados as well as for Shalimar Productions and Young Playwrights, Inc. A monologue from her new play about competitive eating, Reversal of Fortune, will be featured in the 2009 Walking the Wire Festival at Riverside Theatre in Iowa City.
