CWE Fall Workshop Series

The Center for Writing Excellence will provide a series of workshops throughout the semester.  The same workshop will be offered twice each week, with topics changing weekly.

The What, Where and When about the Workshops

The Workshops are 45 minutes long and do not require advance preparation. All Workshops are held in the CWE Seminar room, Bohn Hall 494. NOTE: Each workshop is held on a Wednesday or Thursday, at different times, so you can pick the one that best fits your schedule. You do not need to attend both sessions.

Organization

Organized writing is extremely important for successful papers.  Get tips to help you organize your writing and hand in clear, structured assignments.

Writing a Personal Statement
If you are writing a personal statement, application essay or statement of purpose, this workshop is for you!  Get valuable tips for this important piece of writing from a CWE consultant.

Write a Spooky Story: Creative Writing Workshop

Do you enjoy spooky stories for Halloween—or any time of year?  Come to our creative writing workshop and write a spooky, funny, scary or hairy story of your own.  A CWE consultant will lead the way.

College Writing for Adult Learners
This workshop is for adult learners who are returning to college and may be unfamiliar with the conventions of college writing.  Bring your questions and concerns about college writing and find out how the CWE can help you.

Writing for Research

Writing throughout the research process, from start to finish, helps you write a better research paper.  A CWE consultant will show you ways to incorporate writing throughout different research stages, making the final research paper more manageable.

Polishing Final Drafts

A well-edited final draft can mean the difference between a good paper and a great paper.  Learn how to proofread and edit your own work from CWE consultants and hand in great final papers and writing projects.

Surviving Semester’s End: Managing Multiple Writing Projects

Do you feel stressed because you have several papers to write at the end of the semester? This workshop will show you how to make the most of your time when simultaneously working through multiple writing assignments.
