4th Convening of the Community Schools Coalition
On Friday October 11th, 2019 the Center for Community Engagement participated in the 4th Community Schools Convening at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. This event held annually serves to bring together the many contributors of the New Jersey Community Schools Coalition.
During the conference, panels were formed to talk about varying themes. Community school leaders spoke on topics that ranged from equity to mental health services to early childhood education. The Center’s own director, Bryan Murdock, moderated a talk on school-based health clinics. This conference brings many benefits to community schools as it provides feedback and resources to those who participate. It also allows for a collaborative and group-based approach to problems which is at the heart of the community schools initiative.
