Elaine chose to pursue a M.A. in Counseling as she has a passion for counseling and advising college students with their academic and career goals. As a career changer with a previous career in marketing and advertising, Montclair State University has supported Elaine in her academic and professional endeavors by providing her the academic environment and rigor to counsel students in a higher education setting. Elaine’s future career aspiration is to support and empower college students to excel academically in order to achieve their dreams of graduating from college and starting a career. During Elaine’s time at Montclair State University, she was a graduate assistant and faculty research assistant.

The research team she was a part of recently presented “From Central Office to Portfolio Manager: System Change through the Mechanisms of the Portfolio Management Model” at the 2018 American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting in New York City.  Elaine also recently completed her year-long internship as the Graduate Student Academic Advisor at Caldwell University and was awarded the “Best Mentor” for her “exemplary role as a mentor to the first-year students in the Equal Opportunity Fund program and spirited attitude towards uplifting others.” Elaine will become the Program Coordinator for the Dance Department at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, NJ after graduation.‌
