Dr. Doreen Liou Published COVID-19 Research

Dr. Doreen Liou, Associate Professor in the Nutrition and Food Studies Department, recently published research work, entitled “Perceptions of COVID-19 and Dietary-Related Beliefs in American Undergraduate Students.” In collaboration with her graduate assistant, recent MS graduate Jessica Karasik, this qualitative study interviewed MSU undergraduate students. Interesting insights and beliefs on their perceptions of COVID-19 susceptibility and severity, benefits of health actions, along with barriers were documented. During the pandemic, a heavy reliance on social media for college students’ source of information and communication was evident. A framework depicting perceptions of risk and prevention was derived in this study.
