Dr. Lauren Dinour Receives Center for Community Engagement’s Outstanding Service Award for a Faculty Partner

Dr. Lauren Dinour, Associate Professor in the Nutrition and Food Studies Department, was recently selected as this year’s recipient of the Center for Community Engagement’s Outstanding Service Award for a Faculty Partner.
The award recognizes a faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to the Center for Community Engagement through their commitment to engaged teaching, service, and scholarship.
Dr. Dinour will be celebrated at a luncheon hosted by the Center for Community Engagement on June 15, 2022.
Dr. Dinour is a Registered Dietitian (RD), certified lactation counselor (CLC), and public health professional. She holds a DrPH and MPH with a concentration in Public Health Nutrition. Her research focuses on health-promoting policies, programs, and practices that improve childhood nutrition and food security, particularly in the areas of breastfeeding/chestfeeding, school food, and university settings. Dr. Dinour co-authored the text, Nutrition in Public Health: Principles, Policies, and Practice, 2nd edition (CRC Press, 2016). Her work also appears in peer-reviewed journals such as Breastfeeding Medicine, Health Education and Behavior, Journal of American College Health, Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, Journal of Human Lactation, Public Health Nutrition, and Women’s Health Issues. Prior to joining the faculty at Montclair State University, Dr. Dinour worked as a clinical dietetics practitioner, community dietitian, and public health researcher.
