SoLo’s Food Wins 2nd Place at 2020 Startup Montclair Pitch Contest

SoLo’s Food, comprised of dietetics students Diamonique Lundy and Kheyyon Parker won 2nd Place at the 2020 Startup Montclair Pitch Contest. The annual pitch contest, open to any Montclair State students and alumni, was held virtually on April 22, and identified the most innovative ideas, with a panel of judges awarding prizes to the most compelling concepts.
SoLo’s Food is a fast food restaurant, selling Latin and Soul food that is both nutritious and delicious. They aim to use culturally competent food to disrupt unhealthy eating patterns, providing affordable and healthy food options. TheyObesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other diet-related diseases are on the rise. Current ultra-processed food is targeted for low-income areas and communities of color.
SoLo’s Food received $10,000 cash, along with industry support including assistance in business tech support, patent applications, the launching of a website, and co-working space.
