Posted in: College News and Events
Nutrition and Food Sciences major Rebecca Yellin has received an LDNY educational scholarship from Les Dames d’Escoffier, a philanthropic organization of women leaders in the fields of food, fine beverage and hospitality. The LDNY annual scholarships are given to encourage women to become leaders in these industries by assisting in professional education and providing a mentorship program, an invaluable opportunity to spend a “day in the life” with one of these talented female culinary professionals.
Currently, Rebecca volunteers 4-8 hours a week at CUMAC food bank in Paterson, works as a Nutrition Assistant in the Dietary Offices at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, and is sitting as President for the Montclair State Dietetics Organization Fall 2017-Spring 2018.
She aspires to become a registered dietician “in a culinary setting, to empower others in the culinary field to use organic and unrefined ingredients with low sodium and no added sugars.”
