Miho Hatanaka was given the NJDA Dietetic Student Initiative Award for 2016. She is active in several Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics groupings, including the Student Advisory Council, the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine Practice Group, and the Asian Indians in Nutrition and Dietetics Member Interest Group. In each of these, she has held student leadership positions. Her professional goals include working as a clinical dietitian in a rehabilitation facility, getting advanced education in integrative nutrition, and remaining active in the Academy on the national or state level.
Eric Cassara received a scholarship from the NJDA to attend the Public Policy Workshop sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in June in Washington D.C. as part of the New Jersey contingent. Attendees will discuss policies that impact the health of the nation and the dietetics profession, receive leadership and communications training, and meet with members of Congress on Capitol Hill.
They will be recognized at the NJDA Annual Meeting in May in Long Branch.
