Dr. Ana Maria Villegas, Professor in Secondary and Special Education and Director of the Teacher Education and Teacher Development PhD program, and Francesca Ciotoli, a student in the program, are keynote presenters on September 22 at an international conference in Scotland, sponsored by the Economic and Social Research Council based in the UK.
Their presentation is called “Rethinking the Teacher Education Curriculum for Diversity” and is focused on the changing student population in developed nations resulting from higher birth rates among racial/ethnic minority groups, increased worldwide migration related to economic globalization, and the adoption of educational policies of inclusion that have led university-based teacher education programs to give more attention to preparing all teachers for diversity.
