Frequently Asked Questions for Faculty, Cooperating Teachers, and Mentors

Where do I find/assess the work that students submitted to me?

Whenever a student submits work to you in Chalk & Wire, it will appear in the “Pending Assessments” area of your account. You can access recent pending assessments on your Dashboard, or all pending assessments from the Assessment menu.

Methods for Accessing Pending Assessments:

There are two ways to access your Pending Assessments:

  • Using the Pending Assessments tab on your Dashboard
  • Using the Main Menu to access Assessment and Assess
    • Option 1: Dashboard
      1. Once logged in, you will be directed to your account’s Dashboard. Use the various tabs to view an Overview of your account, Portfolios, Pending Assessments, Performance, Upcoming assignments, and Surveys.
      2. Additionally, you have the option to select any tab and set it as your Default Tab. This will make the selected default tab the first item that you see the next time that you log in to your account, and every time after. The Default Tab can be changed at any time.
      3. Your pending assessments will appear in chronological order from oldest at the top to most recent at the bottom. Select the submission you wish to assess by clicking anywhere in the table row for the submission and selecting the Assess option from the menu that appears.
    • Option 2: Assessment Menu
      1.  Click on the Main Menu Icon.
      2. Click on the Assess option.
      3. Locate the appropriate pending assessment, and click anywhere on the row to reveal its options. Select Assess.
How do I make changes to a previously completed assessment rubric?

Making changes to previously completed assessments is referred to as a reassessment. Almost every type of assessment can be reassessed, excluding Self-Assessments. If the scores have already been released to the student, the changes that you make will automatically be reflected on their My Results screen.

This lesson will walk you through the process of accessing the completed assessment to reassess. If you require additional instructions for actually changing criterion selections or comments, please refer to our full Re-Assess a Complete Assessment workflow.

  1. Click on the Main Menu icon.
  2. Select Assess.
  3. To view your Completed Assessments.
  4. Click on the Completed Assessments button on the left side of the screen.
  5. If you cannot locate the assessment you wish to reassess in the list of Completed Assessments, you may need to extend your time horizon for this list. To do this please visit our Edit Assessment Time Horizon help page for directions.
  6. Locate the Completed Assessment that you would like to re-assess, and click anywhere on its row to reveal its options.
  7. Select Re-Assess.
What are held assessments? How do I release them?

If during assessment you chose to hold the assessment results, you are able to release them at a later date. Holding assessments is beneficial if you would like for all students to receive their scores at once, rather than sporadically as assessments are completed.

This lesson will teach you how to release specific, or all held/unreleased results.

  1. Click on the Main Menu icon.
  2. Select Assess.
  3. Click on the My Held Assessments button on the main Assessment screen.
NOTE: If the number on the ‘My Held Assessments’ button is 0, you do not have any held assessments to release.
  4. If you have many held results, but would only like to release a few:
  5. Locate the assessment whose results you would like to release, and click anywhere on its row to reveal its options. Select Release.

Frequently Asked Questions for Students

How do I submit work to my assessor?

Simply adding content to your portfolio or assignment does not grant your instructor access to it for assessment. In order to complete this process, you must actually submit your work. In this lesson you will learn how to submit your work, and how to select the instructor to whom it should be submitted

Once you have added all required work to the portfolio page, then a Submit When Ready tag will appear on your submission page. If the Submit When Ready tag is not shown on your page after adding your content, then please make sure that all required content has been added to the portfolio page and that all add content windows have been closed.

  1. Click on the Submit button.
  2. In the text box provided on the Submit Portfolio screen, type the name of the assessor to whom you wish to submit your work. As you type, any matches to what you are typing will appear.
  3. When the correct name appears, click on it to select it.
  4. When the Assessor’s name appears above the submit button next to a checkmark:
  5. Click Submit.

Don’t See Your Assessor’s Name?

Assessors are entered into Anthology Portfolio with their first and last name. Any prefixes (Mr., Mrs., Dr., etc.) will not appear in the site. Try typing your Assessor’s last name only to find them for submission.

What if I am submitting to an external assessor/guest? A pop-up window will appear with fields for you to complete. The only required information is First Name, Last Name, and Email Address, though you may add additional information.

  • Once you have completed the profile, you will be able to submit to the guest that you’ve just added.
  • A message will appear to indicate that your content has been submitted.
  • Click on the Review Submission button if you would like to review the submission that you just made.

If you do not see the “Content Submitted” message, or the “Status: Submitted” flag, your content has not been submitted.

Why are buttons missing or not working in my account?

The two most common reasons for our site to display incorrectly are:
  1. Your browser’s cache has not been cleared recently.
  2. Your browser uses add-ons/extensions that are interfering with the way our site appears.

You can troubleshoot these issues on your own, prior to contacting the Support Desk. If the site continues to display incorrectly after following the troubleshooting steps (below), please contact our Support Desk at cwsupport@campuslabs.com.

How do I share my portfolio?

Something to Consider

By copying and pasting the Secure URL into a new browser window, you are able to see how your shared portfolio will appear to others.

If you are unhappy with the way that your shared portfolio looks, you may change the theme in your Portfolio Setup. If you do not know how to access portfolio settings, please visit our Portfolio Setup help page.
