On November 17, 2021, the CEHS Staff Advisory Council hosted a holiday toy drive and pizza lunch in the ADP Center for Learning Technologies for the faculty, staff, and students of the College of Education and Human Services. The toys were collected for the local charity Joey’s Little Angels of Hamilton, NJ. Together, our college collected over 100 toys for the organization.
Joey’s Little Angels was formed in memory of Joseph Thomas Angiolino who was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called Hurler’s Syndrome and passed away when he was one year old. His parents began the non-profit and donated over $100,000 to the Duke Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Family Support Program and other families who have a child seeking medical treatment.
During the holiday season, they host toy drives with the support of volunteers and over 12,000 toys have been donated nationwide since their incorporation. Their donations have been made to Duke University Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, RWJ New Brunswick, Capital Health, Boston Children’s Rutgers Cancer Institute, St. Christopher’s Philadelphia, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and many more.
