Posted in: College News and Events
On Thursday, April 27th, 2022, the College of Education and Human Services recognized nearly 100 students, alumni, and distinguished professionals at the 2023 Annual Awards and Scholarship Ceremony. Assistant Dean for Administrative, External and Student Affairs, Carolina Gonalez, hosted the ceremony taking a moment to respectfully acknowledge the indigenous communities displaced from land now occupied by Montclair State University.
First-time celebrations. This year’s ceremony included two inaugural recognitions. First, Wamwari Waichungo was recognized for donating over two million dollars to CEHS to support student success. Secondly, Lizet Negrete and Vinicio Quinteros received the Dean Tamara Lucas Student Leadership Award. Former Dean Lucas sees a future for students where we continue to grow, become a campus model for social justice, advance academic and professional excellence, place a high value on increased collaboration, and honor each other as members of an interconnected community. On July 1, 2023, with the creation of two new colleges, the student awards will be equally split between the College for Education and Engaged Learning (CEEL) and the College for Community Health (CHHL).
Over $100,000 in awards was given to the students from the Center of Pedagogy, Teacher Education and Teacher Development, Nutrition and Food Studies, Counseling, Public Health, Educational Foundations, Teaching and Learning, Family Science and Human Development, and Educational Leadership departments.
Among the award and scholarship recipients, we also recognize the four Dean’s awards recipients. This award is reserved for members of the community that have made an impact on the College and its students.
