Posted in: College News and Events
In honor of World Down Syndrome Day, The MSU Disability Caucus, the New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education (NJCIE) and the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health (CAECMH) hosted a film screening of the award-winning film Forget Me Not: Inclusion in the Classroom, directed by Olivier Bernier. The screening was followed by a post-film panel discussion on the continued and systematic segregation of students with Down Syndrome in schools.
The live panel discussion included Olivier Bernier (filmmaker), Fred Buglione (Chief Executive Officer of NJCIE); and Montclair State University’s Erin Clark Wecht (Inclusion Specialist at Ben Samuels Children’s Center). Dr. Priya Lalvani, Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning, moderated the panel.
The event was an enormous success with attendees coming from all over the state of New Jersey. CEHS was well represented, with members of the college community sharing the commitment to inclusive education and disability rights.
