Dr. Monica Taylor Elected as Chair Elect for the Self-Study of Teacher Education Practices for AERA

Dr. Monica Taylor, Professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, was elected as the Chair Elect for the Self-Study of Teacher Education Practice Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). She will serve in this leadership role for multiple years as she moves from Chair Elect, to Chair, to Past Chair.

The purpose of the group is to inform and rethink teaching and teacher education by studying practice-varied educational settings and methodologies. The Self-Study of Teacher Education Practice SIG acts as a community of educators who work in a wide variety of practice settings and who seek to make substantial contributions related to the theory in practice of teacher education, self-study research design/practice, and the professional development of educators through self-study of professional practice. Self-study research is initiated and conducted by teacher educators, teachers, and other practitioners who study their own practice to contribute to professional learning, ways of knowing, and knowledge generation.
