Dr. Patricia Virella, Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, recently won the 2023 AERA Educational Change Emerging Scholar Award. The award is presented to an individual in the first eight years of their career (post-doctorate) who demonstrates a strong record of original and significant scholarship related to educational change. Receiving this award highlights Dr. Virella’s contributions to educational research and introduces her work to the field at large.
The award is presented by the Educational Change Special Interest Group (SIG), which adopts an interdisciplinary and international approach to understanding many aspects of educational change, including large-scale reform, school-initiated change, school improvement, and classroom-level change.
Dr. Virella will be celebrated and presented with her award at the 2023 AERA Annual Meeting, which will be held in Chicago, Illinois this April. Congratulations and thank you for your contributions to our college community!
