Posted in: College News and Events
Dr. Carlos McCray, Professor in the Educational Leadership Department recently did an interview with WFMZ out of Lehigh Valley regarding how Pennsylvania and New Jersey are dealing with the teacher shortage, as the nationwide shortage is putting a strain on those states.
He noted this means an “increase in class sizes, and, also, teachers teaching in subjects that they are really maybe uncomfortable with.”
As districts have been successful in recruiting people from other fields to make a career change to teaching, Dr. McCray stated that “the research has indicated that they actually make really good teachers.” He added, “It’s a wonderful profession. It’s an honorable profession. It’s a profession where you get to help people.”
