Dr. Priya Lalvani Interviewed by NJ Spotlight News on Teaching about Ableism and Disability Issues in the Classroom
Posted in: College News and Events
Dr. Priya Lalvani, Professor in the Teaching and Learning Department, was recently interviewed by NJ Spotlight News regarding teaching ableism and disability issues in the classroom.
People with disabilities are the largest minority group in the United States, yet advocates say they’re left out of the conversation when it comes to understanding their contributions to society. A law was passed that requires school districts to teach about the contributions of disabled people throughout history.
Additionally, Dr. Lalvani participated in two webinars with New Jersey All People Equal (NJAPE). NJAPE advocates for inclusive movement, social skills, and wellness services for individuals with disabilities.
