Alexandra Thelin Blackowski, Web Content Manager for the College of Education and Human Services (CEHS), recently presented at the 10th Annual Leadership Institute, hosted by the Center for Leadership and Development. Her presentation was entitled “Establishing Your Personal Brand.”

As such, one’s personal brand is how they promote themselves and their acquired skills, experience, and personality.  This presentation discussed key points to help define and maximize personal branding including social media pointers.

The annual Leadership Institute is a half-day conference for all undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty and staff. Presentations include impactful practices in Leadership Development and Professional Growth. This year, the Leadership Institute’s keynote featured Motivational Speaker and Author Brad Butler II presenting on “Legacy Lifestyle.”

Alexandra researches fashion, popular culture, and art history as a PhD student in History & Culture at Drew University in Madison, NJ, in addition to her role within CEHS. She contributed a chapter on French shoe designer Christian Louboutin in the book Storytelling in Luxury Fashion: Brands, Visual Cultures, and Technologies. In 2018, she received the Jim Liles Student Award from the Costume Society of America for her research on the connections between author Oscar Wilde and fashion designer Gabrielle Chanel.
