Dr. Carlos McCray, Professor in the Educational Leadership Department, is the co-author of School Leadership in a Diverse Society: Helping Schools Prepare all Students for Success.

With the increasing amount of diversity taking place in the United States and in K-12 schools, this book will help school leaders become prepared. It is the school principal who sets the tone for the school culture and provides the vision as to the direction of the organization. Therefore, school principals will ultimately have a great impact in promoting cultural and social diversity. School Leadership in a Diverse Society: Helping Schools Prepare all Students for Success helps scholars and practitioners have a better understanding of the increasing amount of diversity that is occurring in American society.

Dr. McCray’s areas of expertise include: urban school leadership, organizational diversity, educational equity, and he has a growing interest in the high attrition rate of urban K-12 students as a result of their multiple suspensions and expulsions. He published numerous refereed journal articles relating to the aforementioned issues in outlets such as School Leadership and Management, Journal of School Leadership, International Journal of Education Policy and Leadership, the Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership, Urban Education, Values and Ethics in Educational Administration, and Catholic Education: A Journal of Inquiry and Practice.
