On March 1, 2021, Governor Murphy announced the expansion of the eligibility of New Jersey’s COVID-19 vaccination program. The expansion includes educators, childcare workers, transportation workers, and other frontline essential workers and high-risk groups.
Dr. Stephanie Silvera, Professor in the Public Health department, commented on this expansion for WNBC-NY. She stated, “I’m sort of surprised they weren’t included in that initial batch of essential workers.” She added, “they’re at high-risk just due to exposure. the number of people they come in contact with, their inability to stay 6 feet away from each other.”
