Dr. Renata Blumberg and Students Teach Importance of Gardening at Oakwood Community School

Dr. Renata Blumberg, Associate Professor in the Nutrition and Food Studies Department, taught the Service Learning course NUFD 465/565 Urban Agriculture and Sustainable Food Systems. As part of the course, her students helped build a garden at Oakwood Community School in Orange, New Jersey. They also helped teach the students in the Oakwood summer program about planting and the importance of gardening. After their lessons, they spent time together outside in the garden, as well as drawing and conversing about different plants. Additionally, Dr. Blumberg ran a public workshop on seed saving.
Dr. Blumberg specializes in Human Geography, Agrifood Studies, Eastern Europe, and Gender Studies.
