Dr. Stephanie Silvera, Professor in the Public Health Department, recently appeared on NJ Spotlight News with Brianna Vannozzi. When asked about the updates to the Moderna vaccine, Dr. Silvera stated: “I think this is actually very good news. It’s actually something I’ve been very excited about seeing. One of the benefits of the mRNA vaccine has always been this ability to pivot to add new strains…So it would have the spike protein for both the original strain and the new omicron variant. And, given that we are seeing most of the sublineages come from omicron, that means we could have even great protection as we head into fall.”
