A team composed of undergraduate students from Montclair State took the third place ($300) prize in the 4th annual Future Health Administrators Case Competition hosted by Rutgers Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and the Future Healthcare Administrators, a Rutgers student organization.

The annual competition encourages students to use information learned through health administration coursework and apply that knowledge to real-world scenarios in order to solve problems present in today’s workplaces and communities. It gives students interested in health administration the opportunity to showcase their leadership, critical thinking and communication skills by providing them with a real-world healthcare problem-solving experience. The competition is judged by healthcare executives from all over New Jersey and, this year, was sponsored by Atlanticare, Enable Healthcare Inc., and Parker Health Group.

The third-place team’s members, Yamilet Zuniga-Cabrera, Angelina Avila, Jessica Ortiz, and Serena Thomas, are all majoring in Public Health with a concentration in Health Systems Administration and Policy. Their team, along with a second Montclair State team that entered the competition and that included Frandina Volcy, Genesis Jara, Jessica Paul, and Tiara Campbell (also all Public Health majors), was coached by Professor Sze Yan (Sam) Liu of the Department of Public Health.
